A native Texan currently residing in Los Angeles, Mark Andrew Allen references both his childhood home and his decades-long career working as a commercial graphic designer in his mixed media collage works. Wild West iconography, advertising copy, typography, and visual nods to street art all make their way into his complexly layered artworks. The resulting pieces are rich with both visual and conceptual contrasts. Black and white photos are juxtaposed with day-glo brights, and rough and tumble rodeo stars cling to bucking broncos in the background of familiar logotypes in his thought-provoking works of contemporary Pop Art.
