For the past ten years, Milan born, Italian native, Marco Grassi has been developing a highly nuanced, unique style of figurative painting. He depicts the female figure in both small scale watercolor studies, and a series of large scale, mixed media paintings which incorporate metal leaf, oil paint and lacquer to striking effect.

Grassi’s visual language has remained consistent across formal constraints and diverse media, employing a painterly, gestural hand and dense but cohesive color palettes that serve as his aesthetic signature. With his brush, he deftly captures both the softness and strength of his female subjects, who meet the viewer's gaze with their own stares of composed, quiet self-confidence.
